 On August 30, Statistics Canada will release their first official crop production estimates of the year. The average trade estimate of 2021/22 Canadian wheat production is 22.6 MMT (18.9-25.4 MMT range of ideas) and compares to USDA’s latest estimate of 24.0 MMT and last year’s 35.18 MMT. The average estimate reflects the lowest crop since 2007/08’s 20.1 MMT (23.3 MMT lowest since then in 2010/11). The average estimate of the spring wheat crop is 15.9 MMT (12.8-17.9 MMT range) vs 25.84 MMT last year, while the durum crop is seen at 4.1 MMT (3.3-5.4 MMT range) vs 6.57 MMT last year. The canola crop is estimated at 14.1 MMT (11.4-16.2 MMT range), the lowest in nine years and compares to USDA at 16.0 MMT and 18.72 MMT last year. The oat crop is estimated at 3.0 MMT (2.4-3.3 MMT range) vs 4.58 MMT last year, while barley is estimated at 7.4 MMT (6.2-10.1 MMT range) vs 10.74 MMT last year.
ï‚· After being proposed several weeks ago, India officially approved the allowance of 1.2 MMT of GMO soybean meal imports following the tripling of some feed prices over the last year. Imports need to be completed by October 31. India is typically a net exporter of 1.7-2.0 MMT of soybean meal annually and has never imported material quantities of soybean meal.
 The Argentine Ag Secretary estimates farmers have sold 27.9 MMT of this year’s soybean crop (64% of total production), reflecting sales of roughly 600k tonnes for the week and compares to 29.9 MMT sold at this time last year (61% of the crop). Farmer sales of the corn crop reached 37.7 MMT, up 500k tonnes on the week, vs 34.7 MMT last year, reflecting 79% of the crop vs last year’s 68% sold at this time.
ï‚· There were no USDA sales announcements this morning.
ï‚· Brazilian ag exporter association Anec ticked their estimate of August soybean exports down to 5.99 MMT from 6.25 MMT previously and compares to 8.67 MMT exported in July and 5.83 MMT last year. August corn exports are estimated at 4.74 MMT (4.53 MMT previously) and compares to 1.98 MMT in July and 6.24 MMT last year.
 Germany estimated this year’s wheat crop at 21.4 MMT, down from 22.2 MMT last year, while the expected winter rapeseed crop of 3.5 MMT would be unchanged from last year. Germany is the EU’s 2nd largest wheat producer and largest rapeseed producer.
 Romania estimated this year’s wheat crop at a record 11.4 MMT (since their 2007 EU entry), nearly double last year’s drought-afflicted 6.4 MMT crop, while the corn crop is estimated at 13.7 MMT vs 10.2 MMT last year.
 There were no offers in Morocco’s tender for 363k tonnes of U.S. durum wheat under the reduced tariff import quota, not surprisingly given the historically low U.S. crop this year.
ï‚· Tunisia tendered for 100k tonnes of soft wheat and 100k tonnes of barley for Sept 20-Oct 25 shipment. The Philippines tendered for 168k tonnes of feed wheat or Sept-Oct shipment.
 Brazilian sugar industry group Unica said a survey conducted of associated sugarcane producers indicated average expectations of this year’s center south cane roduction at 530 MMT vs 605 MMT last year, with the bias being to the downside following recent frosts impacting nearly 12% of total cane area. Marketing year to date (April thru mid-August) cane crush of 249 MMT is down 6.7% from last year, but ethanol production of 16.4 billion liters (4.34 billion gallons) is down only 2.8% from last year, while sugar production of 21.3 MMT is down 7.5% year-over-year.
