-EU rapeseed crop estimate lowered but still up sharply from last year
-USDA reports soybean sale to Egypt
-China returns from holiday with sharply lower soybeans

 Strategie Grains lowered their estimate of the EU’s 2020/21 rapeseed crop to 18.1 MMT from 18.5 MMT previously on lower planted area ideas, but would still be up notably from last year’s 16.9 MMT.

 China’s commodity exchanges, including Dalian, which trades soybeans, corn, palm oil, etc., are suspending night trading sessions until further notice citing the need to prevent and control the coronavirus outbreak. Trading resumed today from the Lunar New Year holiday with day session activity seeing benchmark May soybean futures falling 2.5% from pre-holiday levels.

 USDA’s monthly Oilseed Crushings and Grain Crushings reports will be released this afternoon at 2:00 PM CT.

 Friday’s CFTC Disaggregated COT data for futures/options combined for the week ended 1/28/20 showed funds continuing to lighten their net short in corn with net buying of 38.3k contracts for the week, now net short just 29.5k contracts vs net short 115k contracts in mid-December. Funds added 6.8k contracts to their net long in CBOT wheat, now at 48.5k, but saw limited activity in KCBT wheat (net sellers of 1.3k contracts) and in MPLS wheat (net buyers of 0.1k). The record net long in CBOT wheat is 80.8k contracts. Funds are net long 9.4k contracts in KCBT wheat and net short 3.5k MPLS wheat. Funds were heavy net sellers in soybeans during the week of 37.2k contracts, pushing their net short back out to 51k contracts, the largest since mid-December, and were net sellers of 4.5k contracts in soybean oil (net long 96.7k) and 3.0k soybean meal (net short 39.7k).

 Indonesian biodiesel production capacity is expected to expand notably in 2020 to roughly 15.6 million kiloliters (4.12 billion gallons) from 12.0 million kiloliters (3.17 billion gallons) last year as plants are built/expanded in order to supply increased quantities in order to meet the country’s B30 biodiesel blending mandate, while also allowing exports to resume which have been significantly cut due to the higher domestic usage requirements. The Indonesian Biofuel Producers Association expects another 3.6 million kiloliters (950 mil gallons) in additional capacity to come online in 2021, as well.

ï‚· USDA reported the sale of 130k tonnes of Egypt for 2019/20 delivery this morning.

Weather Rains of .20-.60†fell across most of La Pampa and southwest Buenos Aries Saturday, with dry weather in the rest of the Argentine growing regions over the weekend. A front will bring rains of .50-1.5†to most Argentine growing regions Tuesday into Wednesday, with some lingering showers to bring an additional .20-.60†the second half of the week bringing final totals in the next 5 days to 1- 2â€. In Brazil, rains of .50-1.5â€+ fell across most areas north of Parana over the weekend, with the heaviest totals falling in northern Parana, most of MGDS, Sao Paulo and the southern 1/3 to ½ of Mato Grosso, Goias and Minas Gerais. Conditions were mainly dry elsewhere. Hit and miss showers and thunderstorms will bring rains of .50-1.5†to most areas from Santa Catarina north, while being mainly dry in most of RGDS in the next 5 days. Some 2â€+ totals are also seen for most of Sao Paulo, Goias, western Minas Gerais and eastern Mato Grosso. Rains of .50-1.5â€+ are indicated to fall in in most Brazilian growing regions in the 6-10 day period with some 2â€+ totals seen for Mato Grosso, Goias and northern MGDS. Only southern Buenos Aries is indicated to miss the rains.
