-EPA biofuels blending ruling as expected, no ethanol/biodiesel changes for 2019
-EU wheat area up solidly
-USDA reports soybeans sold to unknown
-Tweet watching continues ahead of Trump/Xi meeting
 
Soybeans pushed higher heading into the break of the overnight session as it could be another day of tweet focus for the markets ahead of tomorrow’s long-awaited Trump/Xi meeting. The Sunday night session could be interesting, with caution certainly warranted.
 
ï‚· The EPA released the final 2019 biofuel blending mandates yesterday afternoon and was essentially a non-event for ethanol and biodiesel, with both unchanged from the June proposal, as well as unchanged from the 2018 mandates, of 15.0 billion gallons for ethanol and 2.1 billion gallons for biodiesel. They did marginally increase the total advanced biofuel blending mandate to 4.92 billion gallons from the June proposal 4.88 billion and is up from 4.29 billion for 2018. The EPA also made the June-proposed 2020 biodiesel blending mandate of 2.430 billion gallons official, which will be up 330 million gallons from 2019, but was the only target set for biofuels blending for 2020 at this time.
 The UK’s winter wheat planted area for the 2019 crop is estimated at a 5-year high of 1.86 million hectares (4.6 million acres) and up 4% from last year, while rapeseed area is estimated to have declined by 3% from last year to 582k hectares (1.44 million acres).  Strategie Grains estimates EU total winter wheat planted area at 24.3 million hectares (60.0 million acres), up 6% from last year, with recently improved rains in western and northern growing areas and a mild early winter being said to have improved overall conditions of the crop heading into the winter months. France reported their winter wheat conditions were unchanged this week at 82% good/excellent vs 97% g/e at this time last year.
 Ukraine reported this year’s sunflower seed production, with harvest now complete, was 13.8 MMT vs last year’s 11.9 MMT. The soybean crop was 4.4 MMT vs 3.8 MMT last year.
ï‚· The USDA reported the sale of 120k tonnes of soybeans to unknown for 2018/19 delivery.
ï‚· First notice day December corn deliveries were just 2 contracts (11/30/17 last trade date), very light as expected, with wire services indicated ideas by traders being 0-500 contracts. There were no CBOT or KCBT wheat deliveries, with expectations at 0- 500 contracts and 0-400 contracts, respectively, although there were 152 KCBT registered for delivery and just 10 CBOT. MPLS wheat deliveries were heavy at 871 contracts, but 870 stopped by CHS, with a last trade date of 11/16/18, and wire services reporting general expectations for 200-400 contracts. SBM deliveries were moderate at 211 contracts (11/19/18 LTD), put out by Bunge, vs expectations of 0-500, while SBO deliveries were heavy at 1,118 contracts (11/29/18 LTD) vs expectations of 300- 1,300.
